Chatatouille (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides an AI-powered cooking companion application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App and related services.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and username. Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth.

Content you create

We store the recipes, shopping lists, cooking session logs, goals, and other content you create within the App. This data is associated with your account and stored securely in our database.

Chat conversations

When you use the AI chat feature, we store your conversation history, including messages you send and AI responses. This allows you to access past conversations and helps provide context-aware assistance.

Images

If you attach photos (for example, of recipes or ingredients), those images are stored in our secure file storage. The App may convert image formats (e.g., HEIC to JPEG) for compatibility.

Usage data

We collect basic usage information such as cooking session timestamps, recipe ratings, and feature interactions to improve the App experience.

3. How we use your information

• Providing the service: Storing and displaying your recipes, shopping lists, and other content.
• AI features: Your recipes, shopping lists, and conversation history are shared with AI providers to generate responses, recipe suggestions, shopping list items, and cooking guidance.
• Image generation: Recipe details may be sent to AI image generation services to create food photography for your recipes.
• Real-time collaboration: Shopping lists shared via link are accessible to anyone with the link and update in real time.
• Social features: If you share cooks or follow other users, that activity is visible to other users per your choices.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Supabase: Database, authentication, file storage, and real-time synchronization.
• AI language model providers: To power the chat assistant, recipe parsing, and other AI features. Conversation content is sent to these providers for processing.
• AI image generation providers: To generate recipe photos from recipe descriptions.

These providers process data as needed to deliver their services and are subject to their own privacy policies.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies ensuring that users can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

6. Shared content

Certain features allow you to share content publicly or with specific people:

• Shopping list links: Anyone with a share link can view and interact with that shopping list.
• Public profile: Your display name, username, bio, and shared cooks are visible on your public profile.
• Social feed: Shared cooks and related activity are visible to other users.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data by editing your profile or content.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
• Export your recipes and other content.

8. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by other means. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
